Question Ferrari color on a Porsche ??

What is the brightest red paint?

Is it a porsche color?

I will be painting my car soon and I am looking for a very bright red - very vibrant - sort of an arrest me red.

I followed an older 911 in Dallas on a dreary rainy day and his car was so bright it looked like it was internally illuminated, the red was so vibrant it made all of the other cars look grey.

When he stopped for gas I asked him about the paint and he said it was Ferrari Red Imron?? A Ferrari color on a Porsche ??

Is there an ultra vibrant Red that is a true Porsche color? If so what is it - Guards Red??

Do many of you use non-Porsche colors on your cars?

Here is the body that I am using:

Thanks

It's my understanding that Guards Red changed over the years, some years being more orangish, others cooler. Your best bet if you want an insane red is to pick a color out of a paint sample book at your local paint mixer.

The elements on guards red cars really take their toll over time. But I saw a freshly-painted 951 a few years back and it almost looked neon. I haven't really seen anything like it since.

Ferrari actually released the same color as their current F1 cars as a road car option not too long ago. I saw a 360 Modena in Montreal with this color and it was so bright that it almost looked orange. Definitely a head turner. I believe PPG is their official supplier.

I'm going thru the same decision process right now. Colors I'm considering are; Ferrari red, Lexus red, and the new Chevy SSR redlight red.

I believe that Ferrari colour is called Monza. If it was me i'd go to the paintshop and look through all the colour chip books, you'll find dozens of bright reds you've never even seen before.

A Ferrari color might make the Porsche a little unreliable...

Like the other guys said, look at the color charts at the spray painters and get some large tests done so you can look at in various lights.

When I got my car painted silver I'd test pot painted LOTS of silvers but none were right and the best one was unmixed, straight out of the pot PPG silver with 980 grade (grit) silver fleck to make it particuarly luminious, and 20% flip control, which controls how the bits of silver lie in the paint. This affect how the color looks from differing angles.

Try Ferrari Fly Yellow
Ahhh, the love of my life, Fly Yellow. It is either going to be this color or GP white for my 911. Ferrari colors are brighter, which is better for safety reasons . IMO a non-porsche color will make your 911 even more unique than it is now.

My favorite red is that which was on my 1992 Acura Integra. To me that's what red is all about. My 1987 944S was guards red and it was much more orange than the Integra. The integra looked so good in all light conditions whereas the Porsche red didn't look as good in direct sun as it did in the morning and evening hours.

It is my understanding that the highway patrol tends to go for the bright colors.

I'd stay away from the candy if you're using this on the street. Nearly impossible to touch up or match if you need future work done.
Just a thought...

Candy over base looks great, but the most interesting effects come when the candy and base are different colors. For instance, a friend of mine had his bike painted candy green over a purple base coat (then clear). Most beautiful thing I've ever seen. You might try a candy red over silver base.

House of Kolor is the benchmark for the streetrod/showcar and drag race crowd.
Developed by John Kosmoski, here in Minneapolis a long time back. Now, worldwide.
Tons of lab technology and "secret" paint science sets it apart from the crowd. Very interesting reading, if one has time.
I've spent some time with John at the original House of Kolor, and learned more in an hour than I could have imagined.

there are a few Ferrari reds.. My buddy spoke to the Ferrari parts guy for the most popular reds.. so my buddy gets 2 samples to stare at for a few days. They are kinda pure red. I don't have the part number.
