Security Alarm in 85 questions
What features does the 85 factory alarm have? Does the alarm go off if someone opens the door or just if they try to start the car? I have installed a new door with out the mounting hole then lost the key and am trying to decide how much trouble is this thing worth in drilling the door and finding a new lock tumbler for the door.

From my 1985 Factory manual:
 I have the alarm installed and actually have the key for it (the shop that did the PPI on my car remarked it was the first time they'd ever seen one of these cars with the alarm key). I never use mine, mainly because it seems kind of pointless and a pain to slightly open the door, insert the alarm key, etc. I'm putting power door locks in my car right now with a keyless entry system. Unless your car is a concours contender, I'd say ditch the alarm. If you want a security system, get a nice aftermarket one with a starter kill and remote entry.
