Twin outlet silencers - body mods????

My car (85 Carrera) is finally in the paintshop, does any one know what modifications are required to the rear valance and quarter panels to allow fitting od a Dansk 2in 2 out silencer. I am sure one of the quarter panels (ns/lhs) does not require any mods and its only the (os/rhs) quarter panel and the centre valance (outer edge) needing mods.
If the panels need cutting - I intend not to get them painted until after cutting - the engine is not fitted just now to allow me to trial fit the panels.
Cheers

So am I right in saying the the quarter panels require no mods?

thats right. the right and left are slightly different, but you only need cut the valence, unless you want both sides looking "exactly" the same - the difference is very subtle.

I have no idea how long the paintshop will take - it depends purely on how busy they are but I hoping it will take less than 4 weeks.
I am awaiting for the new front valance to arrive from Germany - I only discovered I had the wrong one when it hit me there was no way to connect the front spoiler - no holes! So it should be here by the end of the week. Engine and gearbox should be reunited pretty soon also along with new clutch etc. I would like to have it on the road this summer.

Dickster - one final question - what size of tailpipes do you have fitted in those pictures - I'm sure the silencer I'm fitting has 3" outlets.

Cheers for that Bill - thats a fair bit of cutting! I thought it would just be a case of trimming one edge slightly. Understatement or what.

The two cuts end up being symmetrical relative to the nearest mounting bolt. By this I mean, you can use the location of the stock cut relative to it's nearest valance mounting bolt and transfer that pattern to the right side and position it relative to that valance mounting bolt. This is what I did and it came out perfectly positioned. There is a different shape to the drivers side lower splash guard versus the passenger side. It's not a big deal though and isnt required. With the 80+mm outpipes you may have to mod both sodes. I have the regular Dansk two out sport (not the huge outpipes) and it fits well.

Bill,

Where in the he!! do you get all these educational, informative pictures.

Anytime someone asks about something you've always got a pic, graph or some other illustration to provide.

Cool!
