Oil cap sludge

On my '78 SC I noticed a little water and sludge under the oil
cap. I live in Ohio and havent drove it much the past few months,
although I do start it every few weeks and run it.
Should that hose near the oil filler be cleaned?

Thanks, Bob

Hi Bob,

Don't let jevvy kid around too much at your expense.

There is nothing unusual here. The oil cap often gets some residual oil splattered up on it, and when it mixes with condensation (as when you turn off a hot car and any moisture condenses out), then the oil and water "mix" into a whitish sludge. When we lived in Columbus, it was worse than living in Florida. It's extremes of tempoerature that create condensation.

Nothing to worry about. Just wipe it off with a paper towl, and continue enjoying your SC.

sorry guys - I was just having a laff

well actually the same thing happened to my first porka and I **** myself as I thought it broken - then I realised its AIR COOLED

As andreas says its normal and just means you are not driving it long enough or hard enough to burn off all the condensation

Keep driving
