New Camera = Gratuitous Pictures of the Ruby Red Duck

I have not been much of a picture poster...until now. Just bought a new camera, Nikon D70, and thought I would share a few pictures of the Ruby Red Duck.

Exterior changes made the past couple months: moved 7s up front with 225/50s, bought 8s for the rear and polished them myself, added 245s, added ducktail (about 4 weeks ago) painted by KevinP73 (Automotive Innovations and Restoration), replaced stick muffler with a Burch, provides a nice low/deep sound. I have yet to add the Career side script, maybe soon. Next is to paint the lower valences, paint is really worn.

The Ruby Red Duck washed and ready:

Back/side profile:

The rear, note new muffler:

Same front shot after some fun in Photoshop:

An attempt at an "art" shot:

I have a feeling your rear tires are on backwards. The Vee shoud point the other way.
It is VERY dangerous in rain
Otherwise the car looks great.

Nice car, but I am more curious about the Nikon. I am looking to get one before I go to Rennsport and was wondering how you like it. Thanks for any input you can supply.

Kurt, that rear view would look so much cleaner with a euro plate.

Great color and nice overall look.

By the way, my Bursch muffler hangs almost that low in the back also.

Not sure about all of them. I was a little bothered about it at first but got over it in about a day, it sounds very nice and was not that expensive (about $140 from Pelican). Also, installation was easy, took about 20 minutes.

Good catch, you guys don't miss much. When I has the 245 installed on the 8s the tire shop told me when they balanced the wheel it would be best to put that wheel on the right side. I forgot about switching them to esnure the tread is correct...thanks for the reminder.

My driveway is steep...eh? I only pasrk the car like this for washing and have tire stops under the back wheel...moved them for the pics...not my favorite parking position.

I love it! I have had it for all of three days and it's the first real digital camera I have used. I have been using a 6006 for the past 10+ years and this is very similar in function and use. Also, all my lenses were compatible with the D70 which for me is a HUGE deal. The camera is very easy to use with pre-programmed selections but also allows for a manual control. The camera is very quick, built-in flash "ok", not the best...I plan to get the new flash (can't remember the model) when it's released in 2-3 months. The camera is lightweight, plastic housing, not metal, but still feels high quality. All features are easy to use an intuitive. LCD screen for vieing pictures is large with good light. Overall, looks to be a GREAT camera, very flexible, and shoudl last a long time.

Yowza!! Very nice and I love the color! Looks sort of like Rosewood. Is it close to that color or is it the lighting?

Thanks, it's fairly close to the color. The best representation is the side profile shot. Although, when I apply a polish made for dark colors it really makes a difference...the car looks richer/darker in color. I think after 21 years, the paint has held up extremely well but I can tell the original color is darker.
