When does the spark actually take place?

This question pertains to a 1979 3.0L CIS stock motor.

I've noticed that the leading edge of the rotor is "used up" more that the training edge of the rotor. This leads me to think that while the spark is happening as it should, if all things are adjusted to "normal" the spark might be lighting the plugs just slightly before the piston is reaching TDC.

Comments?

When does the spark take place? When you ask her if you can buy her a drink and she says, "Why sure, cowboy."

The rotor has nothing to do with it. It's just conveniently in line with the end of the wire when the ignition timing (points) sends the spark.

yes depending on what your timing is set to maybe 10 or 15 degrees before TDC

Thanks for the quick wit and such... I think I got my answer from the TDC question earlier. If I can figure out how to shrink the size of the pictures, I'll post some if you are interested.
