Nice. Some questions:
Who did the 3.6 installation? Where did you source the 3.6 from? Was it considerably more expensive than just rebuilding the 3.2 (or whatever else was in the car originally?) |
me likes!!
I see you already got pulled over by that undercover car in the last picture:) Chris |
Now that's one thing I don't have to worry about!!!
moazam,
I did the install and got the motor from a guy on this board. I can get his info if you need it. I used the Timmons kit which can be seen at www.instant-g.com The cost was pretty close to what Timmons quotes as about $15k with the install kit, motor, cooling, and exhaust. I don't know what a 3.2 rebuild by a shop goes for these days but you could save alot by doing the rebuild yourself. I took the 911 engine rebuilding class from Bruce Anderson and Jerry Woods and found that it was very informative and left me with enough information to do a rebuild if I so desired. I decided to go with the 3.6 because you get alot of bang for the buck and it was a fun project. One of the guys on the board (Moses) was nice enough to let me drive his ride and that sold me - I knew I had to have a 3.6 conversion and even though I had a few headaches here and there, it was well worth it! |
Sweet! Which rear bumper is that?
Thats a hot car. What is its original year?
Really, REALLY love yer rims

Very nice!
Well done :) Cheers, Tim. |
That's one badass 911, congrats. Is the RHS exhaust tip not symmetrical with the other one or is it just strange looking in that pic?
nice job--looks fantastic--welcome to the 3.6 club
Nice!
excellent, and er, i see what ya mean about the tips!;)
Excellent Job!!! Your car looks great.
I am sure you know how easy it is to speed with all of this new HP, don't get any tickets... Todd |
Enjoy!:)
The car is an '81 SC and yea, the tip on the right does not sit right - I need move it around - It was designed for a stock bumper and the CTR bumper sits a little lower. Embs - you are right about the HP's - its interesting in that the car does not seem over powered; it is fast but smooth - I start getting on the freeway and by the time I shift I realize I am getting close to triple digits and have to slow down! I don't worry too much about tickets but I can see how it would be easy to get one.

Wow! It looks great and should perform even better than it looks! Great job.
Be careful, that car qualifies as a PC 245 suspect. Very nice!!
Beautiful car! I like the Strosek style rockers. And the wheels are perfect. To tell you the truth I dont see anything I dont like!:D
Incredible! Really nice work. I want to finds someone in SE Michigan who would be kind enough to let me drive theirs. I'd like to compare it to the feel of a turbo.
You mean I could get taught???

I also live in Northern California, would love to see your ride in person!
Also, please keep us posted on what it takes to get the car smogged. Very nice!!! Darryl |
Thanks guys. Darryl - let me know when you want to see it - you are welcome to anytime. The engine rebuilding class was in San Jose at Jerry Woods' shop. You can see the class shcedule on this website:
