Nice. Some questions:

Who did the 3.6 installation?

Where did you source the 3.6 from?

Was it considerably more expensive than just rebuilding the 3.2 (or whatever else was in the car originally?)

rcwaldo 04-14-2004 08:25 PM

me likes!!

I see you already got pulled over by that undercover car in the last picture:)

Chris

Now that's one thing I don't have to worry about!!!

code7rpd 04-14-2004 08:42 PM

moazam,
I did the install and got the motor from a guy on this board. I can get his info if you need it. I used the Timmons kit which can be seen at www.instant-g.com
The cost was pretty close to what Timmons quotes as about $15k with the install kit, motor, cooling, and exhaust. I don't know what a 3.2 rebuild by a shop goes for these days but you could save alot by doing the rebuild yourself. I took the 911 engine rebuilding class from Bruce Anderson and Jerry Woods and found that it was very informative and left me with enough information to do a rebuild if I so desired. I decided to go with the 3.6 because you get alot of bang for the buck and it was a fun project. One of the guys on the board (Moses) was nice enough to let me drive his ride and that sold me - I knew I had to have a 3.6 conversion and even though I had a few headaches here and there, it was well worth it!

That's one badass 911, congrats. Is the RHS exhaust tip not symmetrical with the other one or is it just strange looking in that pic?

JonT 04-15-2004 03:25 AM

Excellent Job!!! Your car looks great.

I am sure you know how easy it is to speed with all of this new HP, don't get any tickets...

Enjoy!:)

code7rpd 04-15-2004 05:09 AM

The car is an '81 SC and yea, the tip on the right does not sit right - I need move it around - It was designed for a stock bumper and the CTR bumper sits a little lower. Embs - you are right about the HP's - its interesting in that the car does not seem over powered; it is fast but smooth - I start getting on the freeway and by the time I shift I realize I am getting close to triple digits and have to slow down! I don't worry too much about tickets but I can see how it would be easy to get one.

trj911 04-15-2004 05:42 AM

Wow! It looks great and should perform even better than it looks! Great job.

Larry Harris 04-15-2004 05:46 AM

Be careful, that car qualifies as a PC 245 suspect. Very nice!!

thrown_hammer 04-15-2004 05:55 AM

Beautiful car! I like the Strosek style rockers. And the wheels are perfect. To tell you the truth I dont see anything I dont like!:D

911SCfanatic 04-15-2004 06:38 AM

Incredible! Really nice work. I want to finds someone in SE Michigan who would be kind enough to let me drive theirs. I'd like to compare it to the feel of a turbo.
