G50/50 Trans removal problem
I posted this on the 964 forum but I thought you guys might know the answer too.
Anyone know the trick for removing the throwout lever pivot? It doesn't want to slide out. Do I need some $pecial Por$che tool for removing it.

We just removed the cover to the end of the pivot (driver's side) by backing out the screw. Then I threaded a metric bolt into the threaded hole in the end of the pivot axle. I then gently tapped it out with a small hammer. Mine was easy. Others have had to use a slide hammer.

sprbxr, there is a threaded hole in the cross-shaft that is 6mm-1.0, same as the small bolt that holds that little plate that holds the rubber plug covering the cross-shaft. I used one that was a couple inches long so that I could get a good grip to pull out the cross shaft.

I have pulled the ***** out of it and it won't budge. There is no load on it so it should come out. I will try again tomorrow.

I had to use a slide hammer on mine. Do the 964's have the same issue with the cross shaft bearings? If so, make sure there are no bearings stuck on the shaft before you put too much force on it. You can break the ear off the tranny housing if you're not careful. I only know this because that's what happened to me.

sprbxr, mine was pretty stuck as well. With the long bolt threaded onto the shaft there was enough room to take a screwdriver/chisel to the underside of the bolt head and give it good tap as I didn't have a slide hammer type set-up to break it loose. Didn't have to tap that hard. Let us know how it goes.
