More Sunroof Repair Issues!
Well I managed to take the sunroof a part and noted that indeed the cable came loose from the slidder piece, but ater putting it all pact together (JD Weld was perfect), I now have a shorter section that does not mate with the other side. How interesting!
They are short of 1/2 inch apart in length. Can any adjustment be made somewhere in the line? Also, if I decide to replace that cable just how do you feed it through that tube the cable fits into at the back of the system? It look like its tough to access. Thanks Bob 73.5T |

You did the repair with the cables in?
Anyway, the drive gear, on the s/r motor, is hanging you up. If you drop the sunroof motor, then the cables will be allowed to follow the sunroof to the proper (aligned) possition.

Island
Can you provide more detail? How would one install new cables if you have to thread them through what looks like these hollow tubes? Can they be reached? Maybe my sunroof is an older model (73.5T) with this quirky setup. Appreciate the help Bob |

I was responding to your question "Can any adjustment be made somewhere in the line?"
Unzip the headliner (at the rear) take out the small panel covering the motor (a few phillip screws) drop the motor/gear mechanism (You will see the edges of the cables in cut-away tubes) the cables are then free to slide. if you do take them out, it is not too tough to thread them back in. . . .as long as you have the s/r panel out.

Island my man....
From the vantage point of looking form the windshield down that void where the roof panel slips in , the tube looks almost out of sight. It would appear its like threading a needle! I cleaned up the long channel piece that holds the slide and came in thru the rear when placing the slide back in. I made the repair between cable and slide with that large channel removed. It appears the channel has a small piece at the very end to keep the slide from coming out or is a guide to fit it back into place for the rear section. When the trannyis off, can the cable be adjusted? The end of the cable almost looks like their is too little to work with. Thanks Bob |

with the channel in place, the cable should find the tube fairly easily.
and, ya, with the tranny off the cables are free to follow the sunroof (assuming those parts have been installed) i dnot know about the "too little to work with" end . . .i've always seen plnty of extra.

It sounds like someone cut out a section of the cable. That little rod witht he plastic piece on the end of the channel can be pulled out so you can remove the cable carrier or slide.
