"Bad" timing for a ruptured appendix

Well,

I was all ready to drive to Hershey, PA to attend the Swap Meet, along with "Bell" and a few others. Last Sunday, I got sick and had a fever, abdominal pain, etc... and went to my Dr on Tuesday (yes, I was in "denial") and found out I had a ruptured appendix. I'm a former Navy Hospital Corpsman and Paramedic, so I knew darn well what I had, but I couldn't bear the thought of missing the swap meet. Now, all of my "buddies" are in Daytona or Hershey and I am taking pain meds and antibiotics at home. Word of advice, if you have severe abdonimal pain and a fever, don't ignore it! We don't ignore things that go wrong with our cars, but sometimes we procrastinate on health matters. Fortunately I had an excellent surgeon and great nursing staff, so I'll be back in the driver's seat soon. Right now climbing stairs is a challenge!!

Richard,
Thanks, but I really didn't need anything in particular, I was going to "browse" and enjoy my first swap meet at Hershey. Oh well, there's always next year. I just hope it doesn't rain too much!!

Get well soon!

There's ALWAYS another swap meet. The fewer you go to, the more you save!

Everyone,

Thanks very much! Pictures would be great! I'll save some $ for the next swap meet... Hopefully this won't take to much "driving time" away from me.

After hernia surgery this last Jan., I was in the 911 within 2 weeks. I ran the dog piss out of it in the Santa Monicas with several Pelicans in Feb. Get well soon and don't worry about the lack of events. There'll be plenty as you folks on the East Coast get into the better weather.

Best to you, I was there with the pain thing.

I walked out to the garage this AM and tried to get in the driver's seat.... no way!!! It will be a week or so before I can drive the 911. It seems that "everything in your body is connected to the appendix, or so it feels!

Been there, done that! I had a ruptured appendix also, and refused to go into the hospital because of the test they had to perform to confirm it. It involved sticking things in places that I perfer to keep EXIT ONLY. At the time I was living with three other room mates in college and the physically forced me to go into the hospital. If I hadn't waited so long, the doctor said it wouldn't have ruptured and I wouln't have had to stay in the hospital so long. It was spring, and I didn't want to miss all the prime drinking weather at the time! I was out of comission for a week or more.

I hope you get well quick so you can get back into the P-car!

So they removed your appendix?

Hmmmm, now that's a creative way to save weight.

I hope you make a speedy recovery.
