Hi Chris, yeah it is on the road but there are still lots of jobs to finish! I was hoping to install a 3.6 before Le Mans but it's not gonna happen. Will you be going to PCGB event at Brands this year? It's quite a trek for you i guess!
Regards, Jon H

Low Budget Upgrade
OK. I'll throw my 2 cents in here. I decided to go with Porterfield R4Ss at $79 front & $69 rear. I choose them because I'm not sure I would be able to bed the full race pads in on the street before my first DE next month. I also got a bottle of Motul, I have ATE Blue in the car now. I ordered them direct. Here's a link to there site.
http://www.porterfield-brakes.com/pads.html I also opted for the 993 deflectors, I bought them from the local dealer for just under $30. I can find them cheaper, but with shipping it's a wash. Last weekend I removed the guards on the back of my rotors. So I spent less than $200 for what I feel will be a significant upgrade to get me through till next year. After I learn to drive a bit & can tax my current set up I'll spend some more.

I will add my info on conversions. I just recently found a used set of 993TT brakes that were set up for an SC. They were a good price and something I couldn't pass up in the overall scope of my project.
One thing that is never realized is how different these brakes are from the stock A/M setup. Here are a few pics just for comparision. I will have a thread detailing installation in the coming weeks. I first have to source a new hardline for the one that was smashed in shipping. The comparison parts are the Race Tech 993 kit. you are looking at the rear 993TT caliper and a front 993TT rotor/hat next to an M caliper/911 front rotor. they are positively dinky by comparison. Now I know all about thermal reserve. ![]() ![]() ![]()

Great thanks. I'm doing a back-date project on a steel wide body 83 SC coupe. I got a set of 996 S calipers for the car. Wish me luck.

No suggestions, but adapter needs to fit rotors.
Bigger rotor need “higher” adapter. |
