Pics of the Seinfeld collection?
Hey all,
I've done some searching on the board, but can't find pics of Jerry's whole Porsche collection. Anyone have a link to one? Thanks, mike

I thought he was pretty private with his cars? I'd love to see pics as well, if they do exist.

There used to be a website that had video of Seinfeld's Porsches being "exercised" at the Santa Monica Airport. He apparently had someone whose fulltime job was to drive the cars around the outside of the hangar where they were stored.
A guy climbed a tree with a video camera and documented every single car and then posted the videos on the internet. I believe Jerry's "people" put a quick end to that. Poof...website gone. |

No trees required; the alleged western storage area is wide open with city streets, a large community park, as well as a huge office building complex in the immediate surroundings. Many of the the alleged Seinfeld-owned cars are known to be driven on public roads in LA as well as NYC and perhaps other cities, as the collection does not all reside in one location and further tends to move around as evidenced by the published Rennsport Reunion car owner lists.
Although Mr. Seinfeld is ostensibly a Porsche enthusiast and has even contributed to a few recent p-car mag articles, he is highly secretive and evasive about his personal collection, as is his right. The loss is mutual as the p-car fanatic community would enjoy and benefit from seeing his alleged museum-quality collection, and he might even enjoy and learn from contact with "us", but again it is his prerogative to not do so. In my opinion it is a real shame that many of the most significant cars in the automotive legacy of Porsche and other historic marques are locked away in secrecy by "elitist" collectors, rarely if ever seeing the light of day let alone the roads and tracks for which they were designed. I admire those relatively few collectors who open their treasures up to public viewing or even racing periodically, such as at the Monterey Historics, Goodwood Festirval, and Rennsport Reunion. In that regard, Mr. Seinfield is on the right track and I hope the trend continues! Cheers,

Last night I watched the repeat of the limo/nazi episode. The whole time that Elaine & Kramer are on the corner waiting for the limo there is a sweet black targa with cup wheels on it.

There used to be a guy on the Rennlist who worked in an office building immediately adjacent to the hangar where much of Seinfelds collection was kept. At one point he had several pictures of Jerry's cars including some with Jerry driving one or two. It was pretty cool, but the guy didn't have a telephoto lense, so it wasn't exactly museum quality.
It is a shame that he doesn't do more with his cars for the P-enthusiast community.

Funny. I kind of thought that his post sounded like someone who knew a fair amount about it. Last thing I heard he had changed buildings or offices or something and wouldn't be getting any more pics, but that was a few years back. Cool.

His garage project remains unfinished in NYC, I'm pretty sure. I'll take a walk by there and give a report.

John, where the hell is that garage? I thought it was on 81st or 83rd, and I've driven/walked by a number of times, but I can't seem to locate it. I would love to take the Pcar over there, on the off chance that he recognizes my love for the marque and offers me a ride in a 550.
Thanks. Jared

My current office is in the same exact location but down one floor. I still do see various sweet p-cars, Ferraris, Lambos, and other stuff fairly often but nothing like a few years ago. (dot-com money was probably part of it as eToys and a bunch more -were- right across the street.)
Purportedly Nicolas Cage and Letterman also have or had some cars stored in SaMo someplace. Some neat vintage planes are there as well; P51's and the like - and they are flown pretty regularly which is awesome to see (and hear). BTW - I did have a (modest) telephoto lens...most of the pics were shot a few hundred feet out!
