The final stretch.... anyone with a 3.0!
Here are three pictures that are baffling me, i don't know where the vacuum hoses go (i have an 83 with two vac lines going to the distributor). I also still haven't figured out where that support thing goes to.

On my '77 3.0, the upper of the two vacuum ports in your first photo is attached to a port on the lower section of the warmup regulator.
The lower port is attached to thermal valve, shown below. [img]

Looks like you're using hose techniques vacuum lines. I did the same after I had some wierd high-idle problems and it solved that, they're very durable and fairly cheap too.

Fastred,
The top TB port pictured goes the the WUR. The bottom TB port pictured goes to the back side of the dizzy vac. advance. There are two TB ports facing the firewall. The one facing stright back goes to the decel valve, the other that is slightly facing the fuel distrib. goes to the top side of the dizzy advance. See pic:

red,
The bracket holds the two hoses up, slightly behind the airbox. i removed mine when I changed my shocks. Essentially, the two hoses will run perpendicualr to the centerline of the car (athwartships). There is a blind nut just on the backside of the the airbox bracket and the whole thing is held on by (if memory serves) a small 8mm bolt. I do remeber it being tiny...and I dropped it about 6 times before I got it to thread. Feel around behind the airbox and you'll probably understand better. I shoot a quick pic for ya, but I don't think a chinese contortionist could get back there with digital cam... R/ Dustin |

In the Pelican parts site. In the "Parts Diagram" section on the left side of the Porsche page.

Mark,
I'm looking at your pic. I have that electrical connector but it doesn't attach to anything. It's flopping in the breeze. I also don't have that thermo switch. Can anyone tell me what the story is for my '83 3.0 SC? I can't tell from emeory waht I have in that area, though. |

Jimcry,
This CIS stuff is fairly new to me. I need to study the wiring diagram & figure out what that thing (thermal valve) does & how. It sits between the TB & WUR. The wires to the connector disappear into the harness atop the engine. The can't go far! ;^) |

Mark,
From faulty memory and other shoddy research, think the wires go to the thermotime switch on the left chain housing. Do a search with 'thermotime' and a pic will come up. A guy had the same question as I but the answer left me even mor confused (as if that were possible). |

Mark,
It's the "What does this connect to?" thread. |

From looking (in great detail) at the wiring diagram for the 83 sc, i believe the connections for to the left thermo time switch go to the cold start valve and the signal wire for the starter (which is where the cold start valve get's it's power). That thing in the picture has me lost, i don't even think i had one on the car.
