plug wires for 80 SC?

I'm thinking of replacing my 1980 sc's existing wires for braided wires (Porsche part # 911 602 961 09). Will this have any impact on performance?

Thanks, Graham

The consensus on this board is that the braided wires do nothing special for performance. Their only use is to look authentic. Their original purpose was to stop CIS airbox destructions.... but they didn't do that.

No real benefit from the Braided Wires. Just more $$$

They wear on the fan housing after 20 years, and make it look ratty too.

Bruce Anderson's take on this in the current issue of Excellence is that the brading was a factory response to blown CIS airboxes in the late 70's. Porsche was thinking that cross-firing between plug wires was causing misfiring that was blowing boxes. They finally traced the problem to mixture control, and the braiding serves no purpose -- except to make concours judges happy.
