Question 3.2 idle CO adjustment?

I understand there's a small screw to adjust the CO at idle only. Where exactly is this and what CO% value should it be set at? It's currently 3.9% and smells very rich at idle. (I do have access to a gas analyser)

The adjustment screw is on the drivers side back corner of your mass air flow.

3.9% ? Where are you taking your measurement from, before or after the cat?

Thanks guys.

3.9% from the exhaust tailpipe. My car has no cat anyway.

CO should be 1% or less.

Cheers,

Joe

If you don't have a cat, your car will smell like its running rich because the cat takes some of that smell out of the exhaust. If you live in a non-emissions state then don't worry about running a little rich IF the car runs (and idles) well and you're not fowling plugs. Better to run a little rich than to run lean.

Assuming you're running an 02 sensor, set it to spec or be prepared for flat spots and poor low end performance.

Or you could leave it rich and suffer the consequenses of premature valve guide wear and increased oil consumption...etc.

Might as well forget about smog issues too.
