Getting Fuchs 16 x 9's.....what tire sizes should I get?
 

Hi all,

I've decided to keep my car rather than getting something newer. Anyhow, with my decision comes a gift to myself. I will be getting 16x9's for the rear, and I'm not too sure what size tires to get. I've seen a lot of archived threads with many different sizes.

I want to put tires on that will look the best (sidewalls) without being too big or small. Of course, I'll need optimal performance. I don't really need too much advice on what brand and type to get, just the sizes. Any advise will be appreciated.

Also, on a side note, I plan on keeping the same size tires on my 7's for the front (my original rears). I'm pretty sure they are 205/55? Possibly 50's......will those be OK up front? Or should I get a different width?

Are you saying that you plan to use the current rear tires (and 16x7 wheels) up front? That may not work. The std. rear tire size is 225/50. Sometimes the 225/50 on a 16x7 up front has clearance problems. Rolled fender lips and/or more neg. camber for the alignment setting is the usual solution. But, sometimes people have no problems at all. Depends on your tire dimensions too.

I have 16x8's on the front with 205 and 16x9 on the rear with 245/50's. Like mentioned above there was a clearance issue with 225 on the front.

Correction on my last post my rear tire size is 245/45/16.

Thanks so much for the responses. Yes, I will be using the current 7's on the rear and moving them to the front. I guess I may have to get smaller tires put on the rims, as they are 225's now. I didn't realize that the 7's could have 205's on them.

Definitely 205/55/16 & 245/45/16.

Thanks Jon. I was all set to send the wheels to Harvey Weidman for polished paddles, but I polished my black center caps just to play around with my dremel tool, and I kinda like the look. From a distance it looks like a racing wheel with a single large lug nut holding it on.

Just something to be weary of...

I put 45s on my 9s in the back, going from the PO's 50s which he stuck on there...

Now, the gap between the wheel well and the tire is too significant and i have to lower it an inch or two to make it look cool.
