And a lot of friends on Pelican BB's that helped me get the car I've been waiting for. Great bunch!!

Nice Targa. If the A/C works, but doesn't get cold enough, try putting some computer muffin fans on the condensor under the engine hood, it helped lower my vent temps by 10 degrees or more when sitting in traffic. The cost was about $5.

WOW! Sounds like you found the right one for you.

Of course all your fellow Pelicans can find useful (some probably necessary) projects for you to spend more of your money on. Before you do anything, just drive it and let you and the 911 get to know each other. Make many lists, do more tests, post questions, charge the A/C, but just drive.

OK, now the fun part. What more to do?

First, fix all the little things.

As part of getting the A/C working you might consider changing the crank pulley from the 127 mm to the previous 134 mm diameter. This will turn your 245 mm fan at 1.81:1 instead of 1.68:1 and will improve both the A/C function and the engine cooling with minimal cost. There are many other things you can do to make “killer” A/C for daily driving in hot weather but that is step one.

I am a fan of cloth seat inserts, particularly in hot or very cold weather. If you need to tinker with the seats, that might be a consideration.

With the car lowered it may hit or be riding on the bump-stops in the shocks. Pay attention. At some point you may want to install only slightly larger torsion bars and trim the bump-stops. I am not a fan of stiff shocks on a nice street Targa.

The only other thing I can see is you might reposition the wipers.

It looks like you really found a sweet 911 and at the right price. Good for you, patience paid off.

Wow! That looks like a great car and it seems like you got a good deal considering all that has been done. Not having to worry about paint is a really nice thing. Take the advice of others here and drive for awhile to get the feel and to find out what would make the car "better" for you. I recently upgraded my torsion bars and I swear that it's the best money I've spent on my car (and I've spend alot in the past 12 months). Pelican rocks, but it can be addicting...

man dude, that car looks great! you described it perfectly. drive the peepee out of it for awhile. the little personality traits will come out with time. your steering wheel is sweet! everytime i take over possession of a car, i get all anal and try to set a baseline with all the fluids. i would change the brake fluid, tranny juice, motor oil, etc. fun to rummage for coins in the seats too. i found a brandnew snapon screwdriver and 18" 3/8 extension in a old beemer once. brian, maybe we can get our dogs to meet and i can push some brake fluid around with my motive power bleeder for you.

Ian, The Targa bar matches the paint. Now that I've got this picture thang down, I'll try and take some more pics over the weekend and show it. As far as the script, I'm gonna have to do some thinkin' on that. I think it looks like $hit, and i gotta figure out what I want to do with that. Pics to follow.

Westy, I may get flamed for this, but you might want to look into Duracool or one of the other "alternative" refridgerants. I installed Duracool last year and my A/C, while still not quite up to "modern" standards, has never worked better. I do have a Sanden compressor that I installed several years ago, but other than that, it's bone stock. I too am going to do some upgrades, like the Performance Aire under-belly condensor, etc. Just food for thought...

Thanx David. I did a lot of surfing and reading last week, and I'm just not convinced that underbelly is the way to go. I know it's tuff, but also $$$$. Griffith makes a nice little rig that sits in the rear wheel well. And just what is Duracool? I thought all we had was R-12 and R-134

What's the mileage on that beauty?

Lets see, 123 on chassis, 15 on the motor, 1 on the tranny. But I'm not real pleased with the tranny. No grinding, but sometimes it's hard to slip into first and sometimes you have to pull a little to get it into second. Maybe needs breaking in more. I know the synchros are brand new. Guess I'll have to go for a drive today. Dang!!!
