Why is it that every V8 conversion I've seen is running some form of centerline wheels? This is not a Camaro... Jeez :(

I like Mikez's post best!!! Well thought out and to the point.:D

"purist affectations"?

So this guy took an early car, stripped everything out, is running fiberglass body parts, no cage or safety equipment, and it weighs 2580? And that is 500lbs "lighter than a 930"? Its only 80 lbs lighter than my stock SC and that is with AC, power everything, sunroof, and metal body parts.

What are some of the weights of modded early cars around here? Aren't they down around 2200lbs?

nostatic,

My '66 with a carbed 3.0, fiberglass fenders, rear flares, front IROC bumper, rear bumper and ductail weighs right around 2100 if I remember right. The car has NO power options including the original single circuit brakes (need to upgrade that!)

weight

my 71 rs lookalike car has just been cornerbalanced and weighed 2308 pounds with 383 sbc and 930 gearbox....has no air or radio. lightweight interior and period correct recaros, oscar cibies and horn grill fogs and only has a fiberglass front spoiler and ducktail. it has 7 and 9 x 16 fuchs with s4 and 930 brakes, aluminum front cross member and trailing arms. car is not camaro ized, looks very correct in appearance and drew quite a few very nice comments at rennsport 2. a conversion can be done and done properly and does not cost a fortune as my very much modified 78 930 did. the sbc puts out 495 horsepower and is very easy to operate and maintain...not that i can say that about the 930.
so nocash, if you want to know the pros and cons and the costs, contact me and i will share.. thanks, maxwedge528

Maxwedge528.......My guess is that you have about 20k+ in your car but it is well worth it.
I was not complaining I have well over 20k+ in mine and for dollar spent it runs great.
My only beef is when guys think that they can get a car and the hp/tq that we have for less then the cost of a rebuild. It simply is not true.
