What kind of headlights are these??

I was looking at this 912 on Ebay. The headlights on this car look different than others I have seen. I have never seen that clear glass bubble over the "bulb" before. I though H4s are the ones that have the lens flush with the front edge of the glass.

Good old reliable 912's. What other reason is there to buy one?

The '67 912 parts car I had had those, supposedly they are an original 912 piece, the ones on my car had a VW logo on them. They do look cool though.

That's the old school 911 headlamps, a sealed beam light behind a glass lense. made by hella.

Yup!! The USA bureaucrats, in all their wisdom, banned the use of glass covered headlights sometime during the late 60's. I'm not sure of the year...but a quick net search of the bastardazation of the front end of the E type Jaguar should give you a clue...I'm guessing only, but beginning in the 1969 year?
