Thank you for letting me come to the CIS Anonymous meeting.
Hello, my name is 911ST and I to love CIS. CIS dose not have transition issues and dose not go lean in with high G corners. It adapts its self reasonably well to altitude changes, consistently runs in a more ideal air fuel ratio, runs much more efficiently on the freeway returning much better gas mileage. Dose not have to be disassembled to adjust the mixture, can still make good HP, and can even have good throttle response w a vacuum sensing WUR and the right ignition set up. Carbs are cool. I just would not go to the $1.5k to $3k expense and effort to change from CIS to carbs for maybe 10hp. There are better ways to make a 911 fast (exhaust, big P&C's, gears, brakes, lighter weight, suspension...). I did once take carbs off my motor and installed MFI. That is really cool. Having said that, my recent 911 is a 3.2 w Motronics. Not one bad habit but I have to pay someone else to burn new chips to adjust the AFRs. Unfortunatly, in Calif. carbs on an SC are not really an option unless you stay off the street. If CIS was good enough for Ferrari, it is good enough for me. It is all good. ;) |
cis
hello, im don, and i to love cis. i worked for bmw for 16 years, and cant remember any probs with the cis 320's and such. 318,325, 5,6 and 7 series motronic cars, different story, lots of idle air control valves, relays, sensors, fuel pumps, drivability probs. cis is easy to diagnose, with a few simple tools, gets 25 plus mpg, and EXCELLENT throttle responce if tuned correctly, and what 911st said.

I am serious. I pulled the CIS off of my 77 on Saturday. It was a great running car that I race and use on the street from time to time.
I am going to 9.5:1 pistons and DC40 cams so i couldn't keep the CIS. I would love to pass it onto one of you CIS lovers - complete system $400. Get it while the fuel in the system is fresh. If you talk nice to me, I might even throw in the CIS diagnosis tool kit for another $50. PM me if you are interested. I will include the CIS pistons and cams that are in really nice shape too. How can you go wrong? |
