air filter 1988 911
OK, I thought this would be easy enough, Wayne's book says simply undo the clips and change the air filter. I see two clips in front and can't feel any more. The housing doesn't open enough for me to get the air filter out. So how is it done?

Two in the back, same style. Reach back, feel for the clips, undo them and the whole cover will come out of the car.

Then...take the front cover over to your workbench...and cut off the entire cover leaving only a 1-2" wide band that holds the filter element in place. Now, you'll actually see all four clips, you'll have better maintnenace access to the right side of the engine, the car will sound cool, and you made a "Cup" lid and saved over $120 in the process !
