Short Shift Kit Questions....
Ok....
Just had the Weltmeister ShortShift Kit installed into my 1968 911L...... The good stuff: All the loosy goosey problems are gone My throw distance is super short and precise The bad stuff: I have to exude great force to switch gears, i'm talking a lot of force, so much that it's not that fun...can this be adjusted to taste? SvK |
The WM gains shortness at the expense of leverage; that's why shifting is more difficult. I'd suggest trying the factory short shifter.
There was a thread on the short shifter a few days ago and many more in the archives. Sherwood |
I have the Weltmeister installed. It is not hard to shift my car. I do not have to force anything. Sounds to me like your linkage needs adjustment.

hmmmmm......
Is this difficult for a novice to do? How much should I pay a mech to do this? SvK |
"Is this difficult for a novice to do?"
Not difficult, although there is some spring tension to contend with. It's about the same process as installing the WM short shifter. Not sure how much a shop would charge. My guess is a couple of hours including adjusting the shift linkage. Sherwood |
I agree...my Weltmeister (915 tranny) requires the same effort as my factory shifter did...only it has a shorter throw.
