Rubber dust seals of front calipers needed on a DE car?
I'm changing the pads on my 83 SC to Performance friction and noticed the dust seals on the piston are pretty much shot after 2 DE's. What are you guy's doing on your track cars? Should I get a couple spares or do you just leave them out?

I would replace them or rebuild the caliper befoe the piston gets all gummed up.

If you're running DEs, It's a good idea to keep a couple rebuild kits on hand.
I keep putting the dust boots on each time I rebuild the calipers. God only knows why. And don't worry about the dust seals right now. After a couple more DEs you'll haveto rebuild them. They'll start leaking.

racing calipers often don't run the dust seals because they are rebuilt after every track day and not driven on the street at all. Wear of the pistons and bores wil be greatly accelerated if you run w/o them. Your choice. Their life expectancy is directly proportional to the temperatures they see. 911 brakes tend to run way too hot on track.

I wish I had connections to one of the companies manufacturing silicone bake ware. I bet Silicone dust boots would work.
