Brake technology question, Bill Verberg? :o)

I'd like to see if I have this straight. If I had brakes that had a lot of travel and seemed soft (not really, just lots of travel) then the way to spiffy new brakes (assuming everything else is top notch) would be a m/c with a larger bore. Is that correct.

Bill et al, the 1.6:1 that you are always talking about is the front to rear bias (piston sizes), right? Is there a ratio for m/c to calipers??

Thanks all.

on a separate note...

Went to Whole Foods Market up in town the other day, saw a bunch of Porsches (mostly 993 and 996 in that part of town), but also watched a guy park a Lamborghini Diablo SV in the parking lot. It was pretty freakin cool. An interesting orange color with some black accents, sounded pretty good, but to back it into a park he had to open the door and sit on the sill to see out the back. Still, pretty amazing to see a car like that around here. I'm still waiting to see a CGT in person, that will be a good day.

I don't know if he scans everything or only filters for certain keywords. If the latter maybe use his last name so he'll pick it up. Verberg

If by spiffy you mean higher, harder and w/ less travel, then yes, a bigger bore m/c is the ticket.

Yes, for non boosted Porsche oem is ~21.5 boosted is ~14.8 - ~18.5

The lower the # the more effort and less travel there is. The motor sports variants are always at the lower end and more civilian cars are at the upper end.

I have used as low as 16.2 and loved it, but many or perhaps most would not. I spoke with Alois Ruf about this once, he had similar feelings. If you are an avid cyclist, runner etc ithe lower the # the better(to a point).
