Excellence, MarkP, and Number 88

I recieved my copy of Excellence yesterday and noticed that our own MarkP has been given a writeup by Peter Linsky on his latest car. Haven;t had time to actually read the article but I think it's pretty cool.

Good pictures, flattering write up about a cool car. The author and I agree that this might be one brown car worth owning. Though I'd call it tan and 60-70's cars can look good in tan....not a big fan of proper brown.

Like many of Excellence articles it doesn't get good and dirty with the hard core details. Going back to Jack's article last summer, who could take from that article exactly how much Tyson and he actually did?

I guess its just a product of their largest "market" the late model P driver and therefore a more sanitary surface description. Like "Hot Rod Magazine" stated one time in its editorial....we have to use language a 12 y.o. can understand. Let's hope "Excellence" shoots a little higher, but I wish the articles on the older DIY cars were a little more hard core. They speak of weight savings, but did I miss a qouted # or weight bias? They wrote about the center lock fitting issues but I don't recall any mention of offsets.

I'm a subscriber and look foward to each issue so this is not a rant or slam just a constructive critism from a hands on type of guy.

Actually, MarkP's car is the blue '60 Speedster, not the tan R-Gruppe car (which is also pretty cool).

Whose car is this turbo? I've seen him posting here in the past, right?

As usual, I have yet to receive my copy of Excellence! Nothing worse than hearing about the new issue and just having to wait. When Jack's car was on the cover, Border's books had it first and I just couldn't wait.....I may just cancel my subscription if this keeps up!

Is the brown/tan car this one?

If so it belongs to Paul Van Der Linden, who I know posts on Renn, I think he's been here too. He was selling it at one point for 45K to finance building a Cheetah. It is one sweet ride!

He sold the tan car, one of the R Gruppe members in Paul K in OC owns it now.

Mark congrats on the feature, well deserved.

Isn't MarkP's car a Roadster if it is a '60?

I agree...I think the last Speedster was a 1958 model? But...here we go again, EXCELLENCE article being discussed on the boards when I'll probably find the copy in my mailbox in...oh, a week or two.
