Differences between 911 letter designations...

Okay... Here's a few designations i've heard of from the 70's to 80's (not too sure here).

911 E - What set this model different from the others?
911 T - "" ?
911 S - "" ?

911 SC - "super carerra" 3.0 litre engine, foglightts....

T = Touring
E = not sure , but I know it has a different type of suspension (Elegant Ride ?)
S = Sport ? This is the fastest with more horsepower among the 3 models
