MAACO would have been about the same quality... but much faster and cheaper.

I've done better jobs with a rattle can. That work is inexcusable at any level.

I would absolutely take it to another place to have them fix it. Document everything on the work order. I'm assuming you have the paperwork from Qualtech. After you get the car back you should file suit for your money back and for the expense for getting it fixed properly. If you gave them even $5, you got ripped off and your car damaged. I'd be mad as hell and wouldn't take it.

My experience was a little better with my hood respray.

Not ready on time, paint chips in the frunk, they lost my right front direction reflector, put the headlights back in wrong and without one of the screws.

I hate shoddy workmanship. seems to be prevalent these days though. What do they teach kids in school anymore? How to buy toys and play games?

I feel really bad for you. It's hard to believe someone would call themselves professionals turning out work like that. I'd look into a lawsuit.

That's pretty poor by anyones standards. Almost just vandalism. A real shame. You must be pretty upset.

Hi Germanator,

you are too generous. It looks to me a quality rework by a quality body shop is the right thing to do. Then sue Qualtech in small clainms court for the repair work. I understand you can ask for up to $10,000. They cannot bring a lawyer. I think this would be an open and shut case. And you can get the Sheriff to collect the money or property at the shop.

You could have built a paint booth yourself and learned to paint with the time and money you spent. It seems like for every good shop there are 10 that dont know what they are doing. Even when you get good feedback from a place, its a crap shoot on whos working the day your car is in the shop.

I agree you should be looking for some restitution. Good luck finding a new shop.

All I can say is WOW! Good thing it wasn't my car.
Mark would be walking funny for months after I booted him with my size 13's for that kind of work.
Then I'd bleed him in small claims court for whatever a professional shop would charge to correct their mistakes.

I am not going to pursue legal actions against Qualtech. I already wasted so much energy and time in just getting my car back. It is easier for me just to face the fact that I have to get the complete care repainted in the near future - but this time I will make sure I chose a better place.
Also, my wife was very supportive and told me: "don't worry we will get it fixed".

Anyway, hopefully this story can help to prevent others from going through the same experience than I did.
Considering that Qualtech specializes in Porsche restorations!

Thx for the kind replies!

I have said this before...with Porsches and PelicanParts...anyone not doing a good job...or trying to overcharge...or trying to rip people off is just suicide for their business.
They don't think we talk to each other?
They don't know about the biggest forum for Porsches in the world?
They don't believe anyone will complain?
Doing business this way will only put them out of business.
Bob

I honestly think I could have spray painted it better than that. I had my Carrera repainted and I remember the "two more days" calls very well. Luckily for me my car came out well beyond expectations as the guy doing the work was a true perfectionist and did not settle for anything less. I could not have been happier with the work, it was just the 6 weeks it took about killed me (should have been 2).

When you look for another shop to repaint this mess don't forget about hot rod shops. I found a guy who mainly did street rods and muscle cars and his work really stood out. He is covered in tattoos but damn he can paint a car. Good luck and I am sorry to see such sub par work done by so called professionals.

I suggest taking your car to a reputable shop to at least have them see if they can color sand the orange peel off.

This could be a good idea. Perhaps some of this mess is salvageable.

I wish I'd have seen your original request - I would have sent you to California Porsche Restoration in Fallbrook (North SD County). However, you should never have believed one week IMO.

You would think. Although Motomeister somehow keeps going.

Still, it's good to see feedback being posted, good or bad. It gives future victims a heads up.
