John,

Targas are traditionally more difficult to sell than coupes. I suppose out here in sunny CA, the difference is less pronounced, but history seems to dictate that people prefer coupes to targas.

Also, your targa bar is painted red. To someone researching these cars, that screams "modified." I'm not saying it looks bad, but someone might look at that car and wonder "what else has been done." In a more basic context, people may not like the look of the red targa bar.

Now I see why they painted it black. That thing looks HUGE and TALL to me painted body color. Really an, umm, interesting look.

Although some may like it - at least one person did! So ya never know.

And, as a potential buyer, I'd just subtract $250 from my offer to cover having a shop paint back to black.

I can verify that fact. Only way to find the car i wanted was to look nationally. Lucked out and found an 87 ONLY 3 hours away. Oh...and it wasn't cheap.

Yup. Half of all the 911's imported to the U.S. went to California dealers, so it stands to reason that the California market has far greater supply than the rest of the country.

I paid 17k for my VG condition 86 coupe in Denver a couple months ago, and it was a bargain at that price. I'll bet the same car in West Virginia would go for well over 20k.

Rick,

If by "COOL" you mean the H5s then they became standard in '87. That said, my '86 is now equipped with the "COOLER" Euro H4s thanks to Pelican.
