Interesting.

I'll call BS on the alleged "California law in the'70's" that you had to take a special course to buy a 930... Anyone ever heard of such a thing?

"The intercooler, also drawing cool air through the whale tail, further lowers the temperature of the oil that lubricates the turbo equating to longer turbo life."

Sure, makes perfect sense.

is that motor a cis system? it would appear you can spy the cis fuel distributer, but that is not a normal air cleaner or air box. anyone?

Okay this guy is the new leader. That’s the biggest package of BS I have ever read on Ebay. This guy missed his calling in life, he should have been a fiction writer.

That intercooler looks pretty much stock. It appears to have been sprayed silver, with a "RUF" sticker to match.

I'm no expert, but it doesn't look any larger than my stock IC.

I am actually angry with this guy for lying (this ad got under my skin).

My stock intercooler to compare with his "RUF Intercooler."

My favorite is that it has a Borla 5" twin out exhaust, I have never seen a 930 with a twin out muffler, let alone a Borla, maybe I have been hanging with the wrong crowd of Porsche people. Ha ha, this guy is great, I agree that intercooler looks stock with simply a Ruf sticker on it, why would you paint an intercooler anyway since it would only trap heat.

Ok that was more than enough.

The only things that might be genuine Ruf are the wheels. That intercooler is stock, the Ruf is much thicker and has 66% more surface area.
I have more Ruf stuff on my car.

Yes, I have heard that. It wasn't a law but there were a ration of accidents due to the Turbo's HP and power curve. The most famous was in San Diego or La Jolla where a guy plowed into some people on the sidewalk totally out of control. Porsche AG, PCNA and the dealer were named in a wrongful death suit, IIRC. At that point, the dealers were advised to include a one day driving school with the 930.

I'm sure I don't have all the facts straight, it was a long time ago. Maybe someone can chime in here and provide some more info.

A good reason not to mix paint guns and drugs

30,000 + trouble free miles but it needed a clutch???

I'm always suspicious of 911s that have had a "frame off restoration."

I wonder who pocketed the $3,000 for a handful of stainless fasteners? Do you get the impression this car lived next to the ocean? I do.

Nice Bondo shrinkage on the hood of that "$10,000 paint job". Gotta love that "IMSA Ruf front air dam" too (old-school Strosek repro. bumper). Also, what up with the bigger rear calipers/rotors?

Sheesh! Why do awesome cars have to be destroyed like that?

I just LOVE how the ex-wife thought to confiscate the guages and the service records. How CONVENIENT!!! That is one enterprising ex-wife

Send the serial number to Ruf. They keep good records.

http://www.ruf-automobile.de/

Turbos of this era are CIS cars.

FWIW,

Tom

INteresting that Google turns up nothing on this great Porsche collectro James Conoway -- anybody ever heard of him?

I sent the seller an Email re the ruf intercooler - we'll see if he responds. Maybe ruf would be interested in prosecuting a fraud case...?
