What left you stranded in your Porsche
Reading the most recent alternator stories and other problems I get second thoughts about signing up with AAA. But I am also curious as to what the most likely reasons are you stranded with your Porsche.

The only time my 911 left me stranded, the problem was a corroded fuel pump relay fuse. Several years ago I had a 924S that conked out because of a bad fuel pump relay. On the 923S I simply replaced the relay and carried a spare in the glove box. The cure for the 911 was more complex. I replaced the entire set of fuse holders with holders that use the new "flat" fuses AND carry a spare fuel pump relay in the glove box.

1st) Inner cv bolts backed out, left the half shaft hanging.

1) left the lights on and killed the battery 2 or 3 times
2) Ran out of gas once I've had the clutch master cylinder go bad, and also the clutch fork go, but fortunately neither of those left me stranded, they just made stop signs/lights a pain in the butt.

Alternator went out on the way to a club race. I did prove you can drive 200 miles on a fully charged battery. Only problem was it was 230 to get home.

The throttle linkage rod between the pivot on the transmission housing and my MFI pump snapped in two and fell off of my '73S. I almost tied my shoelaces together and tied them to the MFI pump out of the driver's window, but decided to use my towing insurance instead.

Is ignition on the list?
My 2.2S left me stranded in Horseheads NY 2 years ago, after a 2 day event at the Glen. After 5 minutes at the side of the road, a beat Lotus Esprit stopped to help. Turns out he owned a foreign car repair shop 2 miles away, he even called a tow truck for me. Not bad luck for breaking down 5 hours from home.

Seriously, outagas...that was it. Dumb me, trying to use all the carbon eating additive I'd added. Made it to within 4 miles of the freeway exit I'd planned on taking to fill the tank. What the hell, I did use all the additive, right?
