Drilled brake rotors

I've got drilled rotors on my SC and when I hit the brakes, I'm getting a little vibration back thru the steering wheel. I think that I might have a warped rotor since this only happens upon braking or could bleeding solve this. Can drilled rotors be turned down to true them up?

Thanks in advance

If your rotors are warped (or are warping when they heat up - which is what it sounds like), then turning them will only make the problem worse as you're removing the "thermal mass" of the rotor. Bleeding the brakes won't help.

A "little" vibration is no big deal if that's all it is, but I would inspect your rotors for cracks and if you find any, I'd replace the rotors with non-drilled versions. Slotted rotors seem to hold up alot better if you need something along those lines.

If the vibration is coming thru the streering wheel, why do you suspect brakes?

I'm with Bill, I'd check the alignment before the brakes, especially if it only happens at certain speeds. How old are the rotors? if they're not worn then it's really unlikely that you've warped or cracked them unless you track the car, and even then it's pretty hard to crack Porsche rotors.

No vibration thru the steering wheel except when I apply the brakes. Rotors are about a year old. Also no vibration thru the wheel up 125 mph so I would not suspect the wheel bearings.

This is classic warping of the rotors as they heat up. I would suspect the rotors before anything else if the vibration only occurs during braking.

You cannot turn drilled rotors. They also have issues with cracking as well. If they are bad, go with slotted or standard rotors unless you like to replace them on a regular basis.
