Install instructions for new high amp headlight relay?

Just got my upgraded headlight relay to handle higher wattage bulbs buts no instructions. Do I just plug it in place of the original?

Also, on my earlier thread on getting the Platinum WR8DP plugs from PP for my 80sc targa, should I return them for copper ones? That's what I thought I was getting.

Thanks, Graham

Did you get it from MSucro? I bet he'll send you the instructions if you email him. I looked for mine but couldn't find them.

Relay setup-1976 911

1-Identify in the fuse box (top row of cables) which wires are hot when you switch the hadlights, low and high beams. In the fuse box lid should be written which fuses are concerned.

2-Remove the battery negative terminal

3-Remove the fuses that protect the headlight low and high beams (4 fuses in all). You’ll notice that there is one wire on top for the lows but 2 fuses and 2 wires on bottom (same for the highs). The fuse blocks communicate from behind

4-Take the wire that gets current when the low beams are on. This will become the relay actuator wire.. Prolong it to the relay’s #86 terminal

5-Make a double wire that goes from the battery positive terminal to the top of the fuse blocks, in the spot where you removed the wire that got the current when the lows were switched on (in step 4).

6-Put a new fuse (15A for the lows, 20A for the highs), on the block were you connected the wire from the battery positive terminal (in step 5). You only use one fuse, as there is one relay for both sides, highs and one relay for lows.

7-On the bottom of the fuse blocks for the lows are 2 wires, one for each headlight. These must be removed from their fuse blocks, prolonged and connected to the relay terminal #87.

8-From the fuse you just put in at step 6, run a wire to the relay #30 terminal, this is the main current to the headlights.

9-Make a double earth wire for the relay. It goes in the terminal #85 of each relay. You can route the earth to the battery negative or to a convenient earth. I used a fender bolt .

10-Repeat the procedure for the highs

Notes:
-It is best to crimp, solder and then heat shrink wrap evers connector for that factory look and for safety.
-Make labels for each wire, in case you end up removing this (very unlikely, you are better off remaking the whole lot , much easier)
-On the lower cables from the fuses for the highs is a white/blue cable, it is for the small indicator light in the revcounter. Leave it with the green wires.
