I need recommendations for PPI in Dallas. Thanks.
The search goes on, but with less money after paying the IRS more than I expected to need to pay.

Sort of depends on what part of town you are in but Dallas Eurocar (tell Jim Buck sent you) or Loudens. Steve Louden has a very good rep with Porsche and BMW drivers. Many speak well of Zim's and Mayo but I've never used them since they were not close to my house.
Good Luck

I got a very Through inspection for a car I was looking at from 911 Enterprises. I talked to Barry and Dusty.

Where are you or the car located? East side, try Dallas Eurocar. Midcities to 35, Loudens or 911 Ent. Around DFW, Zims or Mayos. I usually take my car to Zims even though I live in NE Dallas. I have always received good advice from them and great service for the best price. I've also heard many good things about the others mentioned above.

For an early car, send it to Mayo's.

I second the Mayo's advice. Ed did a thorough PPI on my SC when I bought it 2 years ago and has done all of my work (that I don't do myself) since. Good folks.

Brad,
For the same price, mileage, color, and condition ... would you want an SC over a Carrera and then again a 964 (more in price) over either of them? Some love the SC over any Porsche. |

I love my SC but I am always on the lookout for a good 964 with all the required updates.

I really enjoy my SC for many reasons -- its "rawness" and direct connection to the road being the main ones. It has been very economical to own and is a blast to drive. However, since it has seen daily driver duty for the last few months, I think I'd like a little more luxury, better a/c, etc. for the daily grind. It all depends on what you are looking for the car to do.
My upgrade would be to a late 964 (preferrably a RS America) or a Varioram 993 as a daily driver/only car. I sold both of my other "normal" cars at the end of last year, but I'll probably buy another reasonable daily driver with great a/c before it gets too hot and put the SC back in its rightful place as the pampered half-time driver. It excels at that. I really didn't answer your question--if forced to choose, I'd still pick my SC over the others because you can buy a nice, well-kept SC for a fraction of the cost of a similar 964 and the 3.2 cars are just too similar to the SC to justify any real price premium, all other things being equal. There's nothing wrong with any of these choices, it's just up to personal preference. Cheers, Brad '83 SC Coupe |

You're reading my mind Brad. Are you coming to Starbucks on Saturday?

I'll try. My in-laws are in town. I'll have to sneak out, but that Starbucks is 1.2 miles from my house. Shouldn't be an issue.

I'm looking to get the best PPI on an early 911/964 that hasn't had many updates as far as I know. Of the following shops, which are the best for this car? Also, which are closest to downtown Dallas? if you have it, list their phone number. Thanks.
Mayos, Zims, Loudens, 911 Enterprises, Autoscope Last edited by devo230; 05-30-2004 at 02:21 PM.. |

Actually I just pulled out a PCA Maverick region "Slipstream" from last year and thumbed through it noting the advertising shop. I'm a DIY guy myself unless it take $$ tools or special knowledge. In other words, I'm a cheap SOB. How's Microsoft country Mark? We miss seeing you at the monthly get togethers. Jordi's gone now too, off to Vegas to manager the west coast for his company. I like your personalized domain name.
