Your mission: Alps trip (pics)
*Cue in Lalo Shiffrin's Mission: impossible theme*
"Your mission, George, should you decide to accept it, is to drive to the moon and back safely, and bring as much info back as you can, witout freezing your paws off" We spent a part of yestarday fitting a few parts on the car (note to all: You can *not* fit 964 seatbelts reasonably to a '76 Carrera), and we decided we deserved a trip today. The passes were announced open as of today, so we prepared the driving shoes, the short pants (Ha!) and some food. The morning was cloudy, we hesitated for a while, then I decided that the car has spent enough time in the showroom waiting for its new engine (2 years..), and that it is not made of sugar. Off we went. After one hour: ![]() Yes that is snow. There was a little left of the white stuff: ![]() The car behaved flawlessly. I still need to change the oil pressure sender (a 5 bar sender mated to a 10 bar gauge gives double the oil pressure), and the temperature sender (very lazy), but we had zero trouble. ![]() |

Driving on the moon:
![]() They even opened the railway: ![]() But not without the help of my elevated cabin, special wishes, "westfalia" trench digger extension. Very handy, always carry one in your glovebox! ![]() Here is MC practising her heel and toe, does she look involved? ![]() Almost there: ![]() This is how it's done (of course with my size 10 it's easier): ![]() The man on the moon! mission accomplished (it's freezing up there): ![]() Back home, fuel consumption 16 liters/100 Kms (about 16mpg). I even managed to create my own squareweave pattern: ![]() |

This is what this forum is all about. The hell with tech. Fun. We want fun. Perfect outing, but that is some serious snow. Is it always like that in the Spring? This ain't no Mary Poppins view.

Too cool, especially that 2nd picture. Why no door tops George?

Amir,
Weight! Seriously, I have leather covered tops on the shelf, but the fit was too tight with the door seal when closing the door. So I figured, along with the RS door panels, why not go the whole way to the RS Lwt theme. |

Lol, I can see where that would come in handy up there. ![]()

Hey...just like the local Buffalo weather......except just the opposite...we had 23 days of rain in May....didn't get the car out much from its 6 month winter hibernation...another fiasco....
