Who does good black anodizing?
My 1977 911S (36,500 ORIGINAL MILES) came with the black anodized trim option. Over it's 27 years of life, the trim has turned to a dark silver color. Any suggestions on how to get the trim off and who does good anodizing work.
Thanks, Jay 1977 911S LOOOW MILES! ![]() |

You will have to remove the front and rear windows, disassemble both doors completely, along with the rear side windows.
This is a fair ammount of work but definately doable (I have done it many times). You will then have to have all the trim meadia blasted and then polished before taking it to a shop that specializes in anodizing (look in yellow pages). You should talk with them before hand and show them the finish you are looking for. They will tell you how bright the polished finish should be to acheive the correct "dull" look. Hope this helps.

Thanks Poorsha. Sounds like a lot of work. Have you ever used the black trim paint or is this just an easy and hoky way to go.

My SC is the same way around my side glass and I desided to just let it be after waying all the options. It's still a good finish even though it's faded. I think if it was painted it might look worse after time. A powder coating or anodizing would probably be the thing to do if it was refinished. I consider it patina ![]() |

BFS - You're probably right. The car is in pristine conditon so I guess the "patina" adds a little class.
