elephant front bearing installation quest.

I am installing front bearings on my A arms and in the directions it says to put the shims against unpainted metal. Should I not worry about rust here.

Thanks.

If you are concerned, apply a light coating of paint. The point in the instructions is really about making sure the shaft is smooth and clean, no lumps!

Another question:
In the instructions, it states you need to use a suspension grade grease. I've never heard of a suspension grade grease. I was planning to use a lithium grease (maybe with teflon) from mcmaster.com or one of the Mobil1 greases.

Do you have a particular recommendation?

Also, does CA require you to charge sales tax on out of state orders?

Thanks for the parts. The bushings are incredible.

You want to avoid any grease that might attack the bushing I would think. Maybe the synthetics from Mobil1 would be best?

I used a grease that came with the street-hardness poly bushings I used for the front end. I suppose that might be the ticket, but I defer to Chuck on this one as he knows what's what.

You want to be sure to use an EP grease. EP stands for extreme pressure. The tube of grease you choose should state for what it's best suited. Suspension grease would be the same thing as that for chassis lubrication. If you want synthetic, I don't think you can go wrong with Mobil 1 grease or Valvoline SynPower. I like the Valvoline.

Grease shouldn't attack the poly bushings. It's rubber that is sometimes not agreeable with petroleum greases. Plastics are usually not affected.
