ST project update - New home for the project
It may seem as if I have taken a while to post an update on my project. Sometimes life throws changes your way. Step up or get out of the way...
So After a bitter cold winter on the East Coast I relocated to a new job in TX. The move was fairly sudden and I ended up storing my project on the trailer at my in-laws for the past 3 1/2 months. During this time I had to pack up one house, move to TX where I was in a hotel for 5 weeks, find and buy a new house and move in. My wife and I are all settled in now and it was time to bring the project to its new home... And most importantly to its new garage which I did not have in VA. My father-in-law was incredibly nice to tow the car across 4 states for me. Here it is at its new home. Expect major progress in the next few weeks. Can you tell I am excited to get this car going again?! http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1086314838.jpg Here it is next to its yearly brother. Ahh the look of two long hoods. It will be even better with the sound of two long hoods. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1086314871.jpg Now where did all my tools go? Time to start Wrenching!!! |
Sweet! Jamie, I'd love to see your work in progress, it looks great so far. I smell an Austin weekend early 911 gathering brewing...
ps: I have reams of pictures of the Larousse '70 911ST available, if you're looking for ideas... |
Jamie, we'll miss you here in NoVA, but it looks like you finally found "life with garage." :D You'll never be willing to go without one fron this point on. Have fun and get that ST replica on the track soon. I want a report on how well those Bilstein seats keep you anchored.
|
Jim, I already miss the NoVA gang. There is a small gathering of early Porschephiles here in Austin. I will be giving a report on the seats soon. I may even pull out the welder and finish my seat brackets.
Dave, stop by any time. PM for directions and phone number. I will be having a gathering in the next few weeks. I have to unpack the inside of the car from all the parts that are boxed and stored where the seats should be. I would love copies of the Larousse car pics. I never made it to MooreSpeed but saw plenty of pics from RRII. jamie |
Hey, Jamie;
Good to find other S/T guys in the area. I'm not too far away, in tulsa, re-doing mine as a '72 right now. Have oil tank, NOS rear fender, early cooler and console, more complicated than I first thought. Get in touch , let's swap pics and parts. |
Hesa... Dave you have mail.
Jamie |
Jamie,
Congrats on the successful move and the reunion with the ST. I just went through a similar reunion after almost a year and a half without my 72. Your car looks great. I love the 911R hinges. Way cool! Where did you get them? I haven't seen a reasonably priced set that I'd be willing to take the plunge on yet. Enjoy! Rick |
Rick, Thanks for the compliments. The hinges are my own home made design. It wasn't until much later that Shawn (thrown hammer) started making his own. Had I not already painted and drilled holes I would have bought a pair.
Here is the thread. this was still in the prototype stage. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=113258&highlight=projec t+hinge%2A Flipping the decklid makes it so much easier to work on the car. Being tall is no longer a disadvantage. I don't hit my head anymore. Of course I am still on my knees when working with the targa. Jamie |
Jamie,
Glad to see the project arrived safely. Can't wait to see it in person. |
