Porsche Crest What year models Speedometer?

What year model speedometers fit a 1981 911 SC without doing any extra wiring?

I just had a 77 speedo recalibrated from MPH to KPH and put it in my 86. All the wiring was identical.

My '81 speedo came with kph only, so I swapped it out. Found a very nice one on ebay with only 4500 miles for $150. Because they are electrical instead of mechanical, there isn't a problem with calibration. Mine reads to 160mph and is spot on accurate.

I think anything electrical (starting in 74 ?) up to the end of the carrera (89) should swap right in. May be off minor amounts due to the difference beteween 15 and 16 inch wheels. The 83 SC had the later speedo that you find in the carrera and that's what Terry has. The earlier SC had the less crowded 150mph unit. It depends on what you prefer.

If you buy a bad old one, the speedo shops can reface and recalibrate it in whatever you desire.
