Question Front Suspension Camber Plates ???

More questions from the rookie!

I'm redoing and upgrading the front suspension (rear is pretty much done)

Here's what I have in mind:

22mm torsion bars
Polybronze bushings
New ball joints
Turbo tie rods
New sway bar bushings
Rebuilt Bilsteins
Rebuilt brakes

So, that's pretty much everything except the top strut mounts. I searched the archives and just didn't see much about the strut mounts. Seems like these should be upgraded also.

I like to get some input from the group, please!!

You can replace the rubber "donut" in the upper strut mount with a monoball (e.g. Elephant Racing's versions with the weatherseal). It is an easy job - now that you've done the rear, everything on the front will seem easy. By removing the rubber donut's flex, the camber stays where you set it. I don't honestly know if this is something you'd feel in street driving, but people swear they feel the difference when a strut brace is installed, so maybe our butts are extra-sensitive. Search "monoball".

While the monoballs are the bomb, there are also poly-graphite inserts, which are much better than stock, yet should be a bit more mild than monoball inserts and they cost less. I have them and noticed an immediate improvement......

John & Brad - Yes, the front is way easier than the back!! I have read some info on monoballs and that seems like the best thing. They are pretty spendy and I'm already feeling the pain from all the other stuff. I'm interested in learning more about the poly-graphite inserts. Where do I get them etc. Thanks for the inputs!!

I'll second the poly front inserts. I haven't driven with mono-balls, but if you do mostly street driving, you may want to think about it.

I recently swapped mine out and modified my Cambermeister, as covered in other threads, to free up the struts and it's much nicer on the street. The car handles as well as before, but less harshness overall and less creaking while driving slow over bumps.

I haven't been doing as much track driving over here, so I guess my priorities have changed a bit (or am I just getting old?).
