Show me your fiberglass bumpers!

I'm thinking about putting some fiberglass bumpers on the Targa and have seen all varietys on the web. Who's had a good experience with fiberglass bumpers? Whats the best place to get them? Pics?

thx,
Mike

Not sure who makes these (used off Ebay), but they work well and look nice. Rockers are Gemballa.

we put FG bumpers front and rear and a FG ducktail. The only other things we did to lighten the car was the RS carpet, RS doors and Sparco seats. Still has radio and AC. The reduced weight on the bumpers will affect the car dramatically, anytime you reduce weight extending beyond the axles you will greatly improve handling. depending on the bumpers you get it is possible to improve the aerodynamics of the car a bit too. Losing weight is good, losing it in the right places is even better.

My car handles like a champ, weighs in at 2380 pounds, will lose some more after i take out the AC

Here's a shot of my front bumper - if you look closely you can see that it doesn't fit *pefectly*, but looks great with a casual glance...

You talkin' to me? (with the best Italian accent a southerner can muster)... :>)

Weight savings. I don't need the extra cooling, but fiberglass weighs alot less than the factory stuff...

I'm sure that all the air going thru that big hole and out under the car does wonders for the handling

They rear weighs about 2kg, the front about 3kg because it has more support braces. Bought from Free Technics, Finland.

I was thinking the same thing.

FWIW, the car handles just fine. The fastest I've had it was the back straight at Road Atlanta and there's no evidence of front end float or anything else awry.

Scruffy raised a pertinent point, if the air isn't needed for something, it ought to be blocked off. An important objective of aero mods is to keep air from going under the car.

Since when is the # of posts a valid judge of the merit of a post? There are folks here w/ thousands of posts that have added little to the board.

What about the first post Bill? How would you like it if I said your wheels or Ruf bumper was lame (not that they are)? Just not a good start. I believe that Widebody has a big Mocal cooler under there.

Everyones entitled to their opinion, I've had worse directed at me and/or my car.

I don't let it bother me, I do lower my opinion of the poster.
