Which mufflers have the nicest note

I'm getting a new muffler soon, and just wondering which mufflers have the nicest note.

I'm sure you've heard my Monty, but they can drone a little bit at certain revs. If you don't mind a little resonance, then they're great!

I do not like resonance and the only muffler I have found on a Porsche that doesnt have resonance is stock and the louder Dansk sport exhaust.

Monty. I bought one from Adam, who got it from Merv (wydryd) for 3.2 Beautifully made (in Melbourne) and dont have that sort of Porsche rattle, more of a deep manly man note.

Ive found no resonance issue at all, btw, and its not ridculosuly loud.

On my 3.2, which has SSI's, I use the 2 in 1 out Dansk sport muffler. At the Tweeks Funfest I got a number of favorable comments on the sound. At idle has a nice deep rumble, but at higher rpm's no droning.

I have a (in the words of StuartJ) "rediculously loud" muffler. Chicks REALLY dig it so I can't disclose the brand. Suffice to say it aint no Monty.

I cant believe you tried to intimidate a little old lady in a Hyundai the other night. What sort of hoon sits beside Nana and winds 5000 up through that garbage can exhaust you have on that car. You clould have interfered with her pacemaker. I further cant beleive that she actually launched the Excel and gave you a run.

I shant go on, it was just embarassing from that point. You are a disgrace.

Ideal sound to a person is very subjective.

Dansk, dansk and dansk, also dansk is pretty good.

Single out sport on my carrera is music to my ears - dual out would be a bit loud for me. Non-car people have remarked that even the single sounds "a bit loud for a Porsche". But then, Carerras are too quiet to start with.

The 993 I like with the factory set up.

Just installed a GHL single in/out on my 1981SC, and it sounds great. Nice rumble but not overbearing and with no resonance. I don't think its much lighter than the stocker, which was somewhat of a surprise, but its obviously very well built.

I've got a GHL single in, dual out, 3"tips, attached to a euro-pre muffler and the stock exchangers...
It's too loud, and it drones. Ugh. What was I thinking.

2 in, 1 out Dansk, w/ SSIs on my 3.2l SC engine.

A little loud @ startup in garage, a little loud in city traffic, great @ speed or on the open road. No resonences or droning.

On my 2.7S motor I have SSIs with a GHL dual in single out. At revs the thing sounds great, but very loud. At 3000 RPM there is a resonance that you tend to avoid by going faster (!) At idle its very deep, at moderater RPMs it has a nice rumble. I wish I could post a sound file for you, I just don't have one!

This set up is very loud which either you like (me) or hate (guys in Boxsters, grandmas, guys in turbos, cops). Wife says she can literally hear me a mile away when I get on it.
