3.2 turbo conversion-need custom chip
Well,l took the plunge.l just took another step towards my turbo conversion and bought the turbo. For just over $100.00 l got a stock 87 930 turbo with about 70-k miles on it.l know about buying used turbos and all that but l needed something to use for mock up and if it works for a while then even better.l`ve got new GHL headers,non-turbo,and l plan to fab a stainless siamese to the turbo with an external wastegate "tentacle".The turbo will be center mounted high enough to drain the valve cover and with my custom bodywork clearance should be no problem back there.l`ve got an Autothority mass flow with a Steve Wong and l`ll initially go with a stock 930 intercooler.Fuel enrichment? secondary injector possibly,FMU,or MSD boost sensitive fuel pump controller-increases voltage to pump based on boost signal.Anyhow whatever l do l`ll need a chip for the Motronic, and that`s what l`m posting for.Steve, are you out there?can you make me another chip to work with the turbo?l know about Promotive, and l`ve also heard that the chips are a starting point and will need further remapping..Any help appreciated.l will not replace the motronic with a standalone system.

Just slap on bigger injectors and remap the Motoronic and you won't need enrichment. Especially not "pump-controller voltage increaser"...what is that? Never heard of anything like that
![]() If your MAF is big enough and doesn't go t 100% before your maximum mass flow occurs, you'll be able to use it. No need for extra injectors (and similar band-aids). 930 intercooler is pretty bad (that's why you find so many used ones) and I'm afraid you won't be able to fit it on 3.2 engine due to much higher intakes. Also, you'll probably have to cut and rotate throttle-body towards the rear.

Raceman
The chip is the key component and protomotive is the best way to go |

[/B][/QUOTE] l know the stock 930 intercooler doesn`t work as well as newer, bigger, better flowing units but l`ll start with it because it is cheap and a definite improvement over NO intercooler.l`ve learned that if l wait to get the best parts available with every project l tackle nothing gets finished and l stay real broke, all the time.As for fitment l can`t see it being any more difficult then say, putting a Saab engine in an SC,right? l never expect anything to just bolt on ![]()

l`m getting parts together, doing the research.lt seems 951 injectors and 930 fuel pump are a good combo, and there`s that custom chip also. From what l can see the MAF or flapper stays on the T/body yeilding blow a through system, has anyone done the turbo conversion with draw through? Personally l like the blow through because you can vent blow off valve to atmosphere, plumbing is simpler also...any pics of the Promotive system would be very helpful
