It's true about platinum plugs, they burn cold and foul. Look into NGK copper. That's the first thing I do on all my cars. Then change the fuel filter. Do the easy simple sings first, it"ll improve the overall performance and also eliminate the potential field of problems and if that doesn't out right fix the problem at least you've narrowed it down.
