Big Brake upgrade

I got a great deal on a set of 928 GTS rotors and calipers and want to know what type of adapters I might need to fit them on my 86 Carrera. I checked the archives and found a little info but nothing really helpful. Any advice would be much appreciated.

Thanks

TJ

Has anyone ever seen a performance comparison between "Big Reds" and stock Carrera brakes?

Look on Bill Verburg brake page he has comparisons of pad size/swept area, etc. From the ones in the know that I have talked to brake sizing can be somewhat of a black art that takes into account car weight, speed, temp, rotor size, pad material, cooling, fluid condition and type, and braking technique...

I guess if Jeremy says that's all you need to know then I guess shouldn't mention the fact that 928 rotors can't be used on a 911 w/o machining the hubs.

The GTS front caliper is a Big Red painted black(usually) w/ the bleeds and feeds reversed. They can be used w/ an appropriate 322x32mm front rotor(VCI can supply that and the caliper adapter) if the bleeds and feeds are swapped.

The rear will be a problem, the rotor cannot be used and the caliper has inappropriate piston sizes. The 28/30 is way too small for use on a 911 w/ the Big Red front.

If the GTS front caliper is used, you will want either a modified 965(VCI does supply one version of a modified 965) rear on a 930 rotor
or a modified 993RS rear caliper on a modified 993RS rear rotor. IMHO you will want the latter setup.

All you need to know and a link to the VCI webpage - They were very helpful, especially when it came to questions regarding what calipers and rotors will work with what...
