ahhhh stop complaining. Most of you guys wouldnt buy a new 997 anyway...

Porsche F-in around with the current designs helps keep the values up on the older cars... pre 996

Sonic - your right except you forgot one thing - most of us probably couldn't afford a 997 anyways.

I like that Cayenne, its definately got character........something almost every single other SUV on the road lacks (except maybe the Escalade, and I'm sure there are people here who are going to argue with me on that one).

i think another poster mentioned it - porsche should have designed another car altogether.

people still refer to the model as "911" but i disagree with this. i have trouble identifying porsches from the front now - boxter or 911? who f'kin knows?

for me porsche should have left the design alone - apart from subtle changes!- and concentrated on performance.

a couple of other examples wind me up. duccati and triumph both had major redesigns for their flagship sports bikes - both are bloody ugly compared to the original.

sure ugly sells, but only to die hards. the little lotus is ugly (imho) but handles real well - i wouldnt buy one.

porsche has gone all modern - in a world where if you took the badges of cars you'd probably be hard pushed to identify many of them.

and i like the LONG nose! :D

The 996 is the 944 of the future. No offense to 944 owners. What I mean is the 996 will be an incredible car for very little money in the not too distant future. The 997 should of followed the 993. The 996 should of never happened. It just looks like a smoother transistion from the 993 to 997. The 996 just looks.....blah.:(

Oh and please offer the 997 with a ducktail.:D

The 996 looked pretty nice in my book - a lot nicer than most other sports cars. The 997 looks fricken amazing. I want one. It inspires in me the kind of desire that the 991 did when I was a kid. "Someday," I said, as a young man, looking at brand-new 1980s Carerras.

"Someday," I say, and a not-so-young-anymore man, looking at the 2005 997.
