911 Mysteries II

I hope this does not sound ridiculous, but when i go to the pump to fill, the gas nozzles with the rubber hoods keeps clicking off such that the only way i can fill the tank is to hold the handle with half a squeeze. Is this normal?? Also, the 87 911 i bought recently has a burgundy interior and the previous owner used something such that when i wipe the door panels, the burgundy comes off on the towels. Do i have a leather interior?? Did he use some sort of leather polish that comes off with leather cleaners?? What do i use to clean/condition to not have this problem???

As far as the gas pump problem goes, that's normal. The filler for the gas tank takes an abrupt turn to the left after the gas cap and causes the gas to "back up" just enough to cause what you're experiencing. The trick I have found is to not fully insert the filler nozzle and/or not squeeze the filler handle fully depending upon how fast the pump is pumping.

With regards to your interior, the PO might have "touched things up" using some leather polish or dye. What are you using when wiping down the interior?

When you put gas in your car, turn the handle upside down.

You can buy leather paint to touch up leather. Unfortunately it is not really designed for car seats etc as it does not have very good wear/cleansing characteristics as you have found.
No real solution except to find a milder cleaner or replace the leather

Thanks guys. To answer David, I was using Amorall Cleaner. It took off just enough of the dye/polish to leave a dull finish in blotches. Now i need something to even out the shiny vs dull spots.
