I think you mean R instead of RSR. RSR's used regular lenses.

I got mine from MotoDelta (moto-delta.com) in Illinois. The fiberglass pieces were of high quality and light, but the reason I bought them was because the lights are LEDs, not just to save a few pounds (which they definitely do). $258 inlcuding shipping and an extra-cost mounting piece. You have to paint them, of course.

I think you'll have the best results by contacting Mike Bazaglou (hope I spelled that correctly) at TRE in North Hollywood for the "R" lights you seek. His company distributes front and rear R lights that are built by Mike Swanson and are without question the finest and most authentic reproductions out there with the best fit. Naturally, you can expect to pay slightly more than the price you mentioned but quality and cheap are simply not compatible,....ever. Your biggest challenge will come in successfully scoring the correct front and rear Hella lenses that are authentic, rather than the approximate reproductions for sale. This week however is German Auto Fest, and I'd get my ass to Ventura if Porsche figures into your daily life, for surely there you will find most of what you need.

Good Luck

John,

I'm sure you didn't mean it this way, but you're implying that the fiberglass lights I carry are not of the highest quality. I would challenge that strongly. The fiberglass panels are impeccable and there are plenty of people around here that have them to attest to that.... No one that has installed them has had to refinish or "massage" them for fit at all.

The LED lights are not only of very high quality, they are also the only LED lights out there that are DOT approved, so for all the guys with state inspections we can provide the DOT certifications to show the inspectors. No problem.

I will vouch for ya cstriet. The fit is purrrffect, no problem, as for the little f.g. do dad shim you were talking about..I have no idea what it would do or why it would be necessary, as the fit is right pronto. No problem. No massaging, no grinding and re do, drill the two holes,
( shown clearly on them ) adjust the metal backing plates on the car and screw them on. Ya might want to paint them.....i did

I bought mine from Ray who I believe now supplies Chris. They are very high quality. If you don't need a perfect restoration correct part and are just wanting the look. They are the way to go. And by the wayI invented R lights. (not the crappy ones Mark Wilson stole off a tractor either...)

The only reason I did not get mine from Chris is because I wanted a "combo" amber/clear so I could have turn & back-up in 1 unit instead of having to fab up something else for back-up. I wound up buying mine from Pelican. .

Are these units really that much lighter than the stock ones?

The stock units weigh 7.4 lbs ('73.5 911) for a pair. The R type ones save 5-6 lbs. at the extreme rear of the vehicle corners (where wt. savings has the max. effect on yaw; less so on roll or pitch since they are not that high off the ground). The savings is primarily due to the heavy cast metal housings P AG used on their lights -- LEDs will save little wt. over the bulbs and thin metal bulb sockets.

If you have not added a light wt. deck lid then the benefit is mainly cosmetic. If you have done that it is worthwhile - esp. if you have subbed ext. hinges, rubber tie downs for the latch mech., light mesh grill as on R types, and so on.

I don't like the gap they leave in the body colored areas (hard to see on dark cars) so am holding out for ones that take the stock lenses.

You need to retain backup lights - do a search.

Is that weight you quote for each tail light unit, or for the pair?
