Calling all engine detailers

Can anyone recommend a good way to clean the engine bay of my 79SC. I am thinking I will use Gunk Engine Brite and lightly rinse with a garden hose set to mist. I will close off the air intake and cover the dist. as best as I can. What are some other ways to do this job?

I think that a good "basic" cleaning can be achieved as you posted. I also used a high pressure wash. Worked very well. Just be very careful. I destroyed the (paper??) exterior on one of the heat exchanger hoses when I jetted by it. Make sure to cover all electrical components. I also sprayed WD-40 before and after to help displace any water that may have gotten where I didn't want it. Started right up afterward.

gunk is good stuff. I'd use a brush instead of a pressure washer. Don't go nuts and keep the big clean for when the engine is out. (Earlier or later. )

aigel....I have a habbit of taking the lazy-man's-way...I agree with you, especially with the engine out detail...The only way to get true access and make it like new!

kach......I think I may try that product. Great results!
