grease on inside of left rear tire
I came back from a GREAT couple of day at Sumiit Point and was doing my normal inspection of brake pads and removed my wheels for cleaning etc. and noticed on the inside of the drivers rear tire there was grease. I looked into the wheel well and saw a bit coming from the top of the CV near the trans. Could it be the CV itself or do I need to look further?

Well the only two places you can get grease from back there is the CV joints or a rear wheel bearing. I would check both areas.

You probably have a tear in the CV boot. CHeck it carefully under "Extension" while rotating it.

Thanks guys. I am taking to a friend who has a lift. I will do it there. How difficult is the boot to replace?

sounds like a bad CV boot, or seal between the CV and the flange. Also check the tightness of all the CV bolts. My .02. good luck, and keep us posted.
