My 1st P car

I finally did it, I got My Porsche. After a long search I finally found my car. I have been talking to this guy up in St Louis for several weeks now, and I was finally able to drive up there to see it and drive it. Needless to say I was very happy w/everything about the car.
I am so wound up right now I don't think I can get to sleep.

I go back up this thursday to pick it up, and make a nice long winding trip back down here to louisiana.

here are a couple of pics ( I Hope )

Looks nice. I especially like those wheels (Fikse?). Are the door mirrors carbon fiber, or just black?

KCPSG,

Congrats!! That's a beauty. Not to be negative, but I hope you did a Pre Purchase Inspection (PPI) with a mechanic! If not, get under that engine and make sure that the car doesn't have any significant leaks. It's pretty important to have someone go over all of the aspects of the car to make sure you aren't getting yourself into a more expensive car than anticipated.

Enjoy the car, and come back here often so we can answer all of your questions!! Most of all, HAVE FUN.

Regards,

Are you planning to take it to a local shop for a prepurchase inspection including a leakdown test? I would make the sale contingent on it. Hope all goes well for you, nice looking car!!!

Yeah,
Sorry I forgot to include all the details, I did have a PPI done by Reid Vann ( a well respected mechanic in St. Louis area ) and it came back w/ a good review. It does have 2 spots where it sweats oil around valve covers but have found no spots where the car sits. the car has been lowered to below euro specs but I can't give you the measurements yet. it sits on FM 10's 205/50-17 and 255/40-17. It has a K&N filter and a autothority/millennium chip. Also has the 930 steering wheel and the 930 console, w/aluminum bezels and trim. and white face gauges. w/ a very nice Kenwood stereo and speaker system from car audio innovations. All new carpet and new storage armrest w/beverage holder from bird automotive.

I'll include more info later
there's so much and I just can't seem to think straight right now
I really want to drive it but I cannot pick it up til friday.

thanks for the responses

Phillip

Congrats KCPSG! Good job. Very nice looking car. We dont have enough of these cars in Louisiana.

Good luck, and have a safe trip bringing your new p-car home.

It sounds like you got a good car. The good thing is that there is nothing else you need to do to the car from a performance standpoint since you already have a K&N filter.
Do you hve any pictures of the interior?

I will have some more pics as soon as I get the car back down here.
I do have some more pics but I cannot change the format to get them to post on here.

The next thing would be the exhaust.

I was kidding about the K&N, although I do have one on my car. It is kind of an ongoing joke on the true benefits. You have a couple options on exhausts. Do a search on this board, but for your car you may come out just as good with a pre-muffler in lieu of the catalytic converter and a sport muffler. My car is a 911SC which benefits more from the backdated heat exchangers.

I drove your car about 2-3 weeks ago. I live about 5 minutes from Joe's house, so it was a good test driver. Overall, I thought it was in very good condition, but:

1. I think he had it overpriced. I never got to the negotiation stage, but Joe seemed willing to work on price. I guess it came down to whether you loved the car and all of Joe's aftermarket add-ons. Personally, I'm not really into all that billet/brushed Al stuff.

2. The car sat waaaaay to low. Joe admitted it was too low. As a result, it rode poorly, but was probably just a couple of inches away from a better setup. Sorry, but I bottomed your car out on his driveway curb (about 3" high).

3. The rear spoiler (wing) has a lot of stress-crazing in the paint. I would get that redone, because it detracts from an otherwise nice paint job.

4. Those Plus 2 Fikse wheels are nice, but again, very, very stiff ride with those 35/40 profile tires on there. I guess it depends on what you'll be using the car for, and your tolerance for a race-car ride. Beautiful rims, though.

Other than that, I thought it was a very solid, tight machine. I ended up buying an '84 for less than half of what Joe was asking for your car, which fit better into my budget, albeit with a few more miles on it.

Congrats!

Craig
